Excellence vs Perfection

Rsz Renny Doyle Excellence

Excellence differentiates extraordinary people from ordinary people. It’s about not settling for average. It’s about being the best, striving to be better and delivering quality. It’s something you cultivate over time and it emerges as you focus on your continuous improvement.

One of my all-time favorite quotes from Vince Lombardi… “Perfection is not attainable, but if we chase perfection we can catch excellence.”

It’s important not to confuse excellence with perfection. The pursuit of excellence is a behavior that focuses on the process of achievement rather than the outcome. Perfectionism focuses on the outcome, it is not a behavior, but an attitude that says anything other than perfect is a failure.

Vince Lombardi also said, “The quality of a person’s life is in direct proportion to their commitment to excellence, regardless of their chosen field of endeavor.”

If you make a daily commitment to excellence and strive for excellence in everything you do, in every aspect of your life, it will have a positive impact on the quality of your life and business. You will feel more at peace and feel a greater sense of accomplishment because you know you gave it your all.
